Have you noticed that you’re not functioning at your best after a prolonged period of stress?

Stress is one of the most common experiences for people living in today’s fast-paced world.  Stress can sometimes build to dangerous levels before you realize what’s happening.  I can help you learn how to cope more effectively to reduce stress and to achieve greater peace, balance, and health.

We can work on decreasing your stress level by exploring the sources of stress and how you’re trying to cope.  We’ll find areas where you would like to make changes and build habits and skills for greater peace.  Some of the tools we may use include relaxation techniques, mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.  Talking to a therapist can support your efforts to find balance and resiliency.  It’s important to nurture yourself at this difficult time.

BURNOUT

Burnout may occur after a chronic period of stress. It can lead to physical and emotional, feelings of detachment and cynicism, and to a decreased sense of effectiveness.

Getting to this low point usually occurs slowly. The symptoms of stress listed above are cues that you may be heading towards burnout. If you recognized this early, you can take action to avoid that negative outcome. But if you have gone beyond that point, you may experience other symptoms of burnout:

  • Pessimism
  • Detachment
  • A lack of productivity
  • An inability to function at work
  • Isolation
  • Apathy and Hopelessness
  • Poor Performance
